Install Options for OOO 1.32 RC5

You must choose one of the Base Plugins (either the Full or Lite version).

If you choose the Full Version, then you do not need any of the Lite Version Options since they are already included in the Full Version. However, you can still select many of the other options, such as Oscuro Level Rate Options, Respawn Options, Compatibility Options, and/or Additional Plugins.

If you choose the Lite Version, then you may pick any of the Lite Version options, as well as any of the options listed under the heading: Full or Lite Version Options.

Base Plugins

Full Version: The Full Version contains all of the core changes in one pair of files (Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esm and Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esp). This includes NPC, Creature, and Spawn lists, Loot lists, New Content and Merged Third-Party Plug-ins, as well as other changes to PC Statistics, PC Skills, Combat System and Magic System. The Full version is how the complete OOO experience is meant to be played.

Note: Water Weeds and Living Economy are not merged into the Full version of OOO 1.32 RC5 — however, both Water Weeds and Living Economy should be used by those who would like to play the Full version as Oscuro intended it.

Lite Version: The Lite Version provides more customization options. This version uses  the same ESM file (Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esm) along with a reduced ESP file (Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esp) and lets you select additional option modules. The Lite Version by itself is the minimal “core” of OOO 1.32.

If you chose to use the Lite Version and optional Plug-Ins, then you need to access the new folder named “Oscuro’s Oblivion Overhaul” created in your \Oblivion\Data\ folder (either by the installer or by the unpacking of the manual archive file you downloaded).

Full or Lite Version Options

The following plugins are optional modules you can use to upgrade both the Full and Lite versions.

OOO-Water_Weeds: This plugin adds underwater weeds (only grass, nothing harvestable) to the rivers and lakes in Tamriel. This greatly enhances underwater realism, but also comes with a performance hit, especially for slower computers.OOO-Map_Markers_Stock.esp

OOO-Map_Markers_Stock: By default, OOO reduces the number of free start-game fast-travel markers to just those in the Imperial City (you can still fast-travel to the cities once you have visited them on foot). This optional plugin restores default city map markers to vanilla Oblivion behavior so you can fast-travel to all cities immediately after starting the game.

OOO-No_Guild_Ownership: This optional add-on by Wolfbain5 helps to reduce item stacking problems caused by guild item ownership. The standard OOO guild item ownership system sets specific guild ranks for items so you can't just freely loot everything in the guild halls (as you can in standard Oblivion), and even so that certain items don't become usable until you've advanced in the ranks of that guild. The No_Guild_Ownership option reverses this behavior on stackable items like ingredients and alchemy gear, making them freely lootable again. This reduces problems with items not stacking properly, but it also leaves the guilds vulnerable to looting by the player.

Full Version Options

The following plugin is an optional module for the Full Version only.

OOO-DLT_Remover: Standard torch behavior in OOO is a huge improvement over default Oblivion. When you encounter some nasty critters in a dark dungeon, you draw your weapon and automatically drop your torch on the ground so you can still see during the fight! Smart move! When you're done fighting, sheath your weapon, then pick up the torch and it auto-equips so you can continue on. All that without ever having to open your inventory! Simply brilliant! However, some users have a hard time getting used to this change, so the DLT_Remover optional plugin removes the Drop Lit Torches behavior for the Full version. Use it only if you really don't like DLT.

Lite Version Options

The following plugins are optional modules you can use to upgrade the Lite Version. If you want to use all of them, then you should instead consider using the Full Version (since it includes all of these options already). They may not be used with the Full Version.

OOO-Armor_Perks_WearRate_Repair: This plugin governs the changes to armor skill perks. With it, heavy armor will be more cumbersome at master level; light armors will offer 25% bonus protection at master level instead of 50. It also reduces the wear rate of weapons and armor to 30% of the original Oblivion’s values. Lastly, it increases the costs of armor repairing at stores.

OOO-Birthsigns: This plugin changes the Birthsigns to match OOO’s default Birthsigns. Look below for the section on Birthsigns to read what the new values are.

OOO-Combat_Skills_Perks_Marksmanship: This plugin upgrades combat skills perks and related gamesettings (Higher sneak attacks, more successful special attacks, less fatigue cost for special attacks, faster attacks, hand to hand skill upgrades, slightly higher jump, marksmanship greater fatigue cost and greater range, faster arrows, and arrow physics)

OOO-DaedricLord_Quests: This plugin takes away the level restrictions for Daedric Lord quests and resets them to a minimum level of two in order to gain access to the quests. They are also updated to accept the new pelts of OOO's new animals.

OOO-Dangerous traps: This plugin makes traps more damaging than in Oblivion’s default settings.

OOO-Deadly_Combat: This plugin makes weapon and creature damage higher across the board. It also reduces the initial health of players when they first create their characters. Creature’s health is slightly higher and their “low” level status reduced.

OOO-DLT_Immersion: This plugin is made to work in conjunction with the files that OOO will install in your \Data\Sounds\FX\ folder. It is a version of Drop_Lit_Torches that is designed for utmost immersion. This will, when used with the reduced swapping sound fixes, barely disturb your immersion when dropping torches on the ground while adventuring.

OOO-Magic_Effects+Enchanting: This plugin changes all tweaked magic effects and enchantments (which affect clothing, armor and weapons). It also includes the changes that govern more powerful enchantments with Grand Soul gems, in order to compensate for the more magic-consuming and more expensive costs of enchantments as a whole.

OOO-Magic_Effects+Spells: This plugin changes all tweaked magic effects and adds the pertinent changes to spells (default and OOO’s new spell lines) which make magic spells more viable and less prone to exploitation (on those “bugged” spell effects, like Drain Health)

OOO-Magic_GameSettings: This plugin changes the gamesettings related to magic. Magicka regen base is slower than default, but the bonus earned by Wisdom to regen is much higher. Magicka pool per Intelligence point is greater. Magicka’s target and area effects are less costly. Magic spell speed is much greater. Magicka’s range is also greater. Finally, magic effectivity is reduced depending on the weight of armor that the user is wearing.

OOO-Potions: This plugin adds into the game the new regen based potions for Fatigue, Health and Magicka. These potions will be found in the usual suspects for your potion-supplying needs.

OOO-Thief_Guild_Difficult: This plugin changes the difficulty of the Thieves Guild’s quest that asks you to sell a certain amount of goods to the local fence. The value requirements are much higher, and much more suitable to OOO’s new wares and values.

Oscuro Level Rate Options

These optional mods alter the player's rate of skill progression. Two of the three options can all be used with the Full or Lite versions. One of the three options is only for use with the Lite version.

OOO-Level_Slow: This plugin turns the rate of skills’ progression to the values used in the original version of OOO 1.3. All skills progress at slower rates than in default Oblivion. This is necessary because of the higher incidence of combat and skill usage while playing OOO. The new values fall somewhere between x4 and x6  times slower than in the original Oblivion, depending on skill.

You can use this option with the Full or Lite Versions. You may instead use Bofra’s Level_Rates_Modified (LRM) to customize exactly how you want skill progression to behave. The LRM options are included under the Additional Plugins section of the installer options. You cannot use both Oscuro Level Rates and Bofra's LRM at the same time.

OOO-Level_Normal: This plugin uses the leveling rates of OOO 1.31-Full and 1.32-Full. They are a bit faster than those of 1.3 (about x3 slower than vanilla on average). This rate is included in the Full Version, so you cannot select it when using the Full Version.

OOO-Level_Stock: This plugin uses the stock (fast) leveling rates of vanilla Oblivion. You can use this option with the Full Version to regain the standard Oblivion level rates without losing the OOO skill perk descriptions. You can use it with the Lite Version to add the OOO skill perk descriptions to the standard level rate.

Respawn Options

These optional mods increase the time that must pass before creatures and containers will respawn in the game world. They work with both the Full Version and Lite Version. The default for vanilla Oblivion is three days. Choices are included for one week, two weeks, one month, and one year. Be warned that choosing longer respawn times can increase the size of your savegame file since the game must keep track of more data about what you've done in the world.

Compatibility Options

These optional mods improve compatibility for OOO with other mods and official patches. They can be used with both the Full and Lite versions.

OOO-Magic_Script_Effect_Fix: This optional add-on is meant for people who use another third-party mod that changes the script-effect spell entry. With this option enabled, script-effect spells will not produce any sound or visual effects. This is included already with the Full and Lite versions, but it may still be necessary to also load this option in cases where another mod changes the script-effect MGEF entry and is loaded after OOO, which can cause some OOO custom features that rely on Area of Effect scripted spells to produce a bothersome sound and light. Use this add-on to get rid of these effects only if you are using another mod that changes the script-effect MGEF entry. Works with both Full and Lite versions.

OOO-Container_Trap_Instant_Effects: This plugin turns chest traps into instant-effects to avoid CTDs with UI mods that change spell timers to be displayed in text. This is only needed if you are using the official 1.2 patch along with a UI mod that has not yet been updated for compatibility with the official 1.2 patch from Bethesda. Works with both Full and Lite versions.

Additional Plugins

These optional mods are bundled with OOO but not integrated into the base plugins. They work with both the Full Version and the Lite Version. They are:

  • Harvest Flora 3.0 – harvesting ingredients alters the plants you harvested!
  • Living Economy – dynamic vendor gold and item pricing!
  • Bofra's Level Rates Modified (LRM) – see Oscuro Level Rates (above).
